Drugs charge drives trucker to despair

Article Abstract:

UK Customs and the United Road Transport Union have embarked upon a joint initiative which aims to protect lorry drivers from accusations of drug smuggling. At present, lorry drivers lack the same protection as postmen, ships' captains and airline pilots, who are recognised to not necessarily be guilty if drugs are found in their charge. The initiative is unlikely to become effective soon enough to help Steven Bryant, who is on hunger strike in jail in Morocco. He was arrested and convicted after drugs were found in his cargo.

Article Abstract:

Being the victim of a stalker can completely disrupt a person's life, according to Fiona Watts, who has been harassed by an acquaintance of a flatmate since 1993. She has received many unwanted telephone calls, and the stalker has even been ordering services such as takeaway pizzas in her name. She feels that she is helpless to stop this harassment and that the police are not taking the situation seriously.

Car sexism just drives me crazy

Article Abstract:

It is generally assumed that women know very little about cars, and indeed many garages use this to deceive women about the true extent and cost of repair work. It is certainly true that many women are ignorant about car mechanics, but this is because they have no wish to improve their knowledge in this area. Women who do have an interest in cars are generally very capable of dealing with routine problems.
