Edmund Dell

Article Abstract:

Historian, politician and businessman Edmund Dell gained an open scholarship to Queen's College, Oxford, England. His studies were interrupted by the second world war, when he served as a lieutenant in the Royal Artillery. He resumed his studies in 1946, gaining a First in History. He was immediately offered a lectureship in Modern History. He became an executive in Imperial Chemical Industries in 1949, and was elected to Manchester City Council in 1953. He was elected Labour MP for Birkenhead, England, in 1964, and established himself as the House of Commons expert on export.

Sir Robert Rhodes James

Article Abstract:

Historian and politician Robert Rhodes James studied Modern History at Worcester College, Oxford, England. He gained a prize fellowship at All Souls before entering the Clerks' Office in the House of Commons. He published a one-volume biography of Lord Randolph Churchill in 1959, and in 1963 published an extremely influential life of Lord Rosebery. He was Director of the Institute for the Study of International Organisation at Sussex University, England, between 1969 and 1973, and then became Principal Executive Officer to United Nations Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim.

Edward Miller

Article Abstract:

Historian Edward Miller was born in Acklington, England, in 1915. He gained a double starred First in History from St John's College, Cambridge, England, and served in the Durham Light Infantry before returning to his Fellowship at the same college in 1946.
