Article Abstract:

Anthony Williams, who had worked as a civilian employee of New Scotland Yard since 1959, has received a seven-and-a-half year sentence for stealing a total of just under 5 million pounds sterling. It was revealed in court that he led almost a double life, becoming Lord Williams of Chirnside, near Berwick-upon-Tweed. He invested a great deal of money in giving himself an aristocratic background, deceiving the residents of the village of Tomintoul, Scotland, where he had a luxury home.
