Article Abstract:

Companies providing insurance against being unable to meet mortgage repayments through unemployment or illness have traditionally had a rather negative reputation in the UK. However, mortgage lenders and insurance providers have now obtained government support for a scheme under which a new-style insurance policy giving protection against being unable to meet mortgage repayments will be made available. At present, only one in five borrowers chooses mortgage protection, but the government estimates that this form of insurance is required by at least 55% of all home purchasers.

Counting the cost of loyalty

Article Abstract:

Most British people still do not take the time to identify the best deal for their home and contents insurance. Most simply insure their home and its contents with their bank or building society, failing to realize that they could be paying much more than they need to. The home and contents insurance sector is in fact extremely competitive, and it is possible to obtain very attractive deals. It is also worth investigating a range of policies because new products, such as cover for home computers, are now being made available.

Pamper your pet with a personal policy

Article Abstract:

The UK market for insurance for pets is expanding rapidly, with more than 1.5 million pet owners now holding insurance cover for their pets. Pet owners are becoming increasingly aware that medical treatment for pets can be very expensive, and are taking out insurance to cover any future costs. Most policies include cover for veterinary fees for accident or illness, advertising and reward for recovering a lost or stolen pet, and boarding kennel fees if the policyholder becomes ill or has an accident.
