Gibraltar embarks on risky alliance

Article Abstract:

The Spanish government will react very negatively to the deal struck between Gibraltar Chief Minister Peter Caruana and Jesus Gil, Mayor of Marbella, Spain. This arrangement will also cause concern in the UK. Gil is accused by the chief prosecutor in Madrid, Spain, of collaborating with a judge to launder money for the Sicilian Mafia. Sporting, economical and cultural links will be created between Gibraltar and neighbouring parts of Spain under the control of the Independent Liberal Group, headed by Gil.
