Article Abstract:

Abstract artist Gerald Morgan has for most of his life had a love-hate relationship with the work of Jackson Pollock. He was producing what he regards as mediocre paintings until he encountered a Pollock action painting, and feels that he has never really fully recovered from this experience. He has experienced mixed fortunes in his career, but accepts this as being the hand of fate in his life. His work can be broadly divided into precise stripe pictures and the lozenge series, which shows white shapes on a black background.

Poet, journalist and political campaigner Michael Iven was born in Birmingham, England, in 1924. He worked as editor of Sports Reporter before joining the communications department of Esso in 1954. He was founding editor of Twentieth Century in 1967, and in 1975 formed the National Association for Freedom.
