The moment of truth for the high priests of global central banks

Article Abstract:

American commentator Edward Luttwak seemed to be strangely out of touch with the prevailing mood when, in an essay published in Nov 1996, he presented central bankers as being obsessed with the battle against inflation and as having a blind belief in their own infallibility. However, these views now seem more relevant. Indeed, the fundamentalism of central bankers is the reason Bank of England Governor Eddie George has attracted so much criticism for apparently suggesting that unemployment in the North-east could be a price worth paying for lower inflation in the South. It is uncertain how long central bankers will be able to resist calls to cut interest rates further.

There is a third way when it comes to hunting foxes

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning a possible ban on fox hunting in the UK are discussed. It is argued that a full ban on hunting would not necessarily boost the popularity of the Labour party in the run-up to the next general election.
