Guido Pontecorvo
Article Abstract:
Geneticist Guido Pontecorvo gained a degree in agriculture from Pisa University, Italy, in 1928. He worked in the Agricultural Inspectorate for the province of Tuscany between 1931 and 1938, and then moved to the Dept of Animal Genetics in Edinburgh, Scotland. He began to study the genetics of cattle disease when he joined Glasgow University, Scotland, in 1941, and was a member of the resident staff at the Imperial Cancer Research Laboratories in London, England, between 1968 and 1975.

Guido Brunner
Article Abstract:
Diplomat and politician Guido Brunner joined the Diplomatic Service in 1955, having been educated in Munich, Germany, and Madrid, Spain. He was initially Consular Attache in Liverpool, England, and this city remained important to him for the rest of his life. He was German observer to the United Nations in New York, NY, between 1960 and 1968, the Foreign Office spokesman between 1970 and 1972 and Head of Planning Staff from 1972 to 1974.
