Halting steps to a Middle Eastern Korea

Article Abstract:

Syria should form an economic grouping with Iraq and Lebanon, and forge an alliance with the Gulf, according to Dr Nabil Sukkar, a banker who has been the driving force behind economic reform in Syria. He feels that economic reform is vital to Syria, whether or not it is at war with Israel, but points out that the government has no official policy for dealing with the future economy. He is calling for extensive banking reform, a separation of the Syrian Central Bank from the ministry of economy and a unification of exchange rates.

Iran is often seen by western nations as contravening human rights, but in fact acts take place in these western nations which are regarded as a contravention of human rights in Iran, according to Dr Saeed Rajaie Khorasani, one of whose positions is chairman of the Human Rights Committee of Majlis, the Iranian parliament. Human rights abuses in Iran are exaggerated in the western media, and small cases are often picked up on by westerners in order to attack Iran.

The West's fear of Islam is no excuse for racism

Article Abstract:

The West has demeaned, racially abused and stereotyped Muslims for many years in newspapers, in films and on television. It seems that portrayals of the Muslim world, particularly the Middle East, have become clouded by 'Islamo-phobia.' Blatant double standards are applied to Arab Muslims, who are described in extremely dismissive and often very insulting terms. It is clear that there are flaws in Muslim societies, but this does not justify racism.
