Goodbye home, goodbye school, hello world

Article Abstract:

A family tells of an 11-month backpacking trip around the world when the children were aged eight and 11. It was initially hard to decide to abandon a settled family environment, but after the decision was made there seemed to be no reason not to make the trip. The children enjoyed experiencing other cultures, and never really felt homesick.
