Here's a new way to feed toddlers that takes the biscuit (for 'biscuit,' read 'broccoli')

Article Abstract:

It is widely recognized that many toddlers in the UK eat a very poor diet. Their refusal to eat fresh vegetables is a particular cause for concern, as this can lead to vitamin deficiencies. Many toddlers eat a diet which is heavily based on junk foods, and this means that they can gain a considerable amount of weight, which may be carried into adult life. This problem has been addressed by psychologists at the University of Wales at Bangor, who have devised a system which combines a video portraying cartoon characters eating healthily and rewards.

It was time to put a stop to those light liquid breakfasts

Article Abstract:

There is less advice about stopping breast-feeding than there is about starting, but research shows that men who were breast-fed as babies until over one year old are more likely to have heart disease when over 50. The La Leche League advises waiting till the child decides not to breast feed. The National Childbirth Trust suggests a week of screaming objections might follow withdrawal of breast-feeding. However, when it is stopped it can be quite easy for some.

Parents return to sleeping with the progeny

Article Abstract:

It has become increasingly common in the UK for parents to be willing to allow young children to share their bed. This follows a period of around 100 years during which it was believed that sharing the parental bed would spoil children. Those in favour of children sharing their parents' bed argue that it does not prevent parents from having time for intimate moments and that it does not produce children who will later refuse to sleep in a bed of their own.
