He's a JOLLY DECENT chap but isn't his book a bit self-congratulatory?

Article Abstract:

Former Hong Kong Governor Chris Patten does not feel that it would have been appropriate to criticize specific people in his book about his time in Hong Kong, 'East and West.' He is now planning another book, but is unwilling to reveal details about it. He is uncertain whether he will return to politics. Indeed, he seems to be have become less ambitious. His next project will be a television documentary on cookery writer Elizabeth David, whom he greatly admires.

It came from outer space

Article Abstract:

Author John Gray recognizes that his books do not appeal to everybody. However, his most well-known book, 'Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus (A Practical Guide for Improving Communication and Getting What You Want in Your Relationships),' has sold 13 million copies in 40 languages. He believes that there are fundamental differences between men and women, but that, with specific training, these differences can be acknowledged and accepted and a successful relationship established. He emphasizes that he is strongly pro-women.
