Holy war: the battle of St Stephen's

Article Abstract:

The decision by Canon Christopher Colven, the vicar of St Stephen's church in Kensington, London, to switch to the Catholic faith in protest at the Anglican Church's move to appoint women priests, has caused a serious split within this individual church. Separate services are now held for Anglo-Catholics, Roman Catholics and Anglicans. Canon Colven took some of his parishioners with him into the Catholic Church, and the verger, Gordon Nunn, now serves both Anglicans and Catholics.

That's the magic of roundabouts

Article Abstract:

The roundabout has become an integral part of British society, even though it was actually invented in France. It is now being celebrated through the work of popular artists, who are being commissioned to place esoteric structures in the middle of roundabouts. The first site is the Shepherd's Bush roundabout in west London, where a barometer designed by Tanya Doufa and Damien O'Sullivan has been put up.

From boiler room to powerhouse

Article Abstract:

The Tate Gallery has traditionally been run along the lines of a museum, with collections being made permanent by the work of archivists. However, it is now taking a new approach with its 'Art Now' room. This will display all forms of contemporary art, focusing on artists who are bringing something new to the art world. It is planned to hold five exhibitions of new art every year.
