Hong Kong: a middle-class act

Article Abstract:

The emergence of an east Asian middle class is particularly noticeable in Hong Kong. The middle class in Hong Hong has situated itself between the rich establishment and the ordinary people, and has been closely associated with the democratic movement. It is set to be extremely influential in the future of Hong Kong, especially as it is very attractive to the international media. Its members, who have a strong presence in the civil service and in business, will also play a key role in ensuring that Hong Kong functions effectively.

He has become associated with complete political control, efficient public services and an alliance of the right wing and the state. He is now trying to appeal to voters across the country as someone who can cross party boundaries.
