How clever to be Mr Jay

Article Abstract:

Peter Jay, 55, has had a varied career most of which he enjoyed. He did national service in the Navy from 1956-1957 and went to Christ Church, Oxford where he was union president and gained a first in PPE in 1960. He joined the Treasury in 1961 and became Principal. Then he was Economics Editor of The Times from 1967-1977. He presented the television programme Weekend World from 1972-1977 and was surprised to be offered the post of Ambassador to the US, a role he found satisfying. He was Chairman and Chief Executive of TV-am which he was involved with before winning the franchise and building the TV station in 1980. From 1986-1989 he was Chief of Staff to Robert Maxwell. Now he is Economics Editor at the BBC.

Article Abstract:

Jake Kelly, 60, is Head of Media Relations at British Nuclear Fuels' Cumbria plant, Sellafield with 10 staff. He began his career as a printer with the 'Cumberland News,' then a journalist on the 'Carlisle Journal' before becoming famous as a reporter on BBC TV's regional magazine programme, 'Look North.' Sellafield provides emplyment for about 15,000 workers. In 1988 a new visitor centre was opened which attracts 200,000 in the 90's. Initially it was advertised with the first stuck-on advertising printing.

The very reverend Brian Redhead

Article Abstract:

Brian Redhead was born in 1929 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. He did National Service before going to Downing College, Cambridge University. He became northern editor of the Manchester Guardian and editor of the Manchester Evening News. He was offered the chance to replace Robert Robinson on the 'Today' radio programme in 1974. He tries to ask questions the general public would ask. He intends to retire when he is 65 and may be ordained.
