The pay discrimination that's deterring women academics

Article Abstract:

The Bett Report on the pay and conditions of university staff in the UK highlighted the fact that women receive lower salaries than men at all levels of university employment. Furthermore, women are at a disadvantage compared with men in terms of promotion. The universities have now responded by creating a working group to investigate women in higher education. Experts claim that the disadvantage under which women in higher education work can be viewed as institutional discrimination.
