I'm gay, and I don't need a psychiatrist

Article Abstract:

Pete Price underwent traumatic psychiatric treatment in the early 1960s to try to 'cure' him of being gay. He volunteered for the therapy, as at the time homosexuality was not really accepted at all and he felt that he ought to try to be 'normal.' He found his stay in psychiatric hospital very disturbing, as he was put with people who were very mentally unstable and was given injections which made him very unwell. His treatment was probably designed to link homoerotic stimulation with something unpleasant, but was completely unsuccessful.

Survival on the Wirral

Article Abstract:

It has become common in the Wirral region for young unemploymed men to sneak past security guards and pick over scraps on landfill sites to find any items of value. These men congregate around refuse lorries as they arrive, particularly looking for lead and copper. They sell many different items to scrap dealers, and now see this as their only way of making any money in a region where jobs are very scarce.

So, who does run Toxteth?

Article Abstract:

Two rival gangs in the Toxteth area of Liverpool, UK, have recently started engaging in violent clashes. They have become heavily armed, and are struggling for control of the area, causing great concern among local residents. The police believe that the violence is not race-related, but that it is simply a territorial issue.
