Article Abstract:

Christopher Isherwood's novels 'Goodbye to Berlin' and 'Mr Norris Changes Trains' offer a detailed insight into life in Berlin, Germany, in the early 1930s. They present an open permissiveness that can still be seen in the city, where people of many different sexual persuasions gather. Jews play a key role in both novels, but Turks have now taken on the role played by Jews in the 1930s. Indeed, Berlin is the largest Turkish city outside Turkey. The rebuilding of Berlin has revived some of the landmarks known to Isherwood, including the Hotel Adlon.

Fromage de chevre, madame?

Article Abstract:

The Cevennes region of France attracts few visitors. It has many very small villages, and tourist accommodation is scarce. Visitors will find that the region is very unspoiled. Attractions include the Tuesday market at the town of St Jean du Gard, France, where items such as antique linen, chestnut flour and lavender can be purchased. The main industry in the region is chestnuts, and restaurants use many chestnuts in their dishes.

A breath of French air

Article Abstract:

France's 'aire naturelle' campsites emphasize a natural setting and spaciousness. They offer a large amount of space for equipment, and there is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The facilities are quite basic, but perfectly adequate. It is particularly worth considering visiting the Creuse region of France, which is not very popular with tourists but offers many attractions, especially for those who like water-based activities.
