Is the Archbishop missing the point?

Article Abstract:

The Archbishop of York has recently called for tax cuts to be introduced for people who are getting married, in effect offering a fiscal blessing for marriage. However, marriage is still relatively popular, and the real problem which needs to be addressed is that of relationships, either between married couples or those cohabiting, splitting up, which is extremely unsettling for any children involved. The focus should be on strengthening parenting, not relationships between two people.

Beyond the newsreel's monochrome morality

Article Abstract:

Channel Islanders still find it difficult to talk about and come to terms with their experiences under German occupation during the second world war. They felt abandoned by the British government, and had to deal with hunger, anger and frustration. Memories are tinged with shame and contempt, and cannot be dealt with simply through newsreels from the time. For those who directly experienced German occupation, it is far from being a black and white issue.

Charged with deciding the undecidable

Article Abstract:

Recent publicity surrounding the case of Thomas Creedon, a 22-month-old who is extremely brain damaged and whose parents wish him to die peacefully, has highlighted the extremely difficult issues involved in making decisions of this kind. His parents believe that he is suffering, and wish to put an end to this. However, doctors claim that his case is not an extreme one, and wish to continue feeding him through a tube.
