It is time to rethink the aims of this savage war

Article Abstract:

Nato military action against Yugoslavia was instigated without appropriate prior discussion, particularly with Russia. Nato bombing has actually served to strengthen the position of Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, and has prompted more aggression against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. There is growing conflict within political circles in the US about the precise aims of the Nato operation, and in particular about the lack of an exit strategy. The UK should now use its position in Nato to bring about changes in US policy, especially in relation to Yugoslavia.

We should not rule out a peaceful solution in Kosovo

Article Abstract:

Nato must make a serious attempt to negotiate a compromise with the Serbian nation as a whole, rather than just with President Slobodan Milosevic, before considering launching a ground offensive. Nato should consider using Russia to negotiate this compromise, particularly as this would improve Nato's relations with Russia. It will be necessary to be genuinely prepared to negotiate, rather than simply forcing Serbia to surrender. This will mean accepting that Albanians and Serbs cannot now live together in the same country.

We are being cheated by state lies, says Draskovic

Article Abstract:

Yugoslav Deputy Prime Minister Vuk Draskovic has warned the Serbs that Nato is not on the point of collapse and that Russia will not come to Serbia's rescue in the immediate future. He has called for Serbia to allow ethnic Albanians to return to Kosovo, Yugoslavia, and to accept a United Nations-led international presence there. Draskovic's remarks will bring him into bitter conflict with a number of leading figures in the Yugoslav regime.
