It may not be moral, but we may have to fudge the Irish arms issue

Article Abstract:

It is most unlikely that Northern Ireland's republicans will abandon their weapons in the near future, even though the armed struggle has come to an end in practical terms. IRA leaders are aware that many ordinary republicans regard them with suspicion and that immediate decommissioning would bring a dangerous split within the republican movement. It now seems likely that the peace process will move towards some form of compromise, with the Unionists being allowed to feel more secure and the republicans that they have not surrendered.

The familiar diatribe of war zones, from Rwanda to Belfast

Article Abstract:

Many Macedonians feel threatened by the large numbers of ethnic Albanians who are entering the country from Kosovo, Yugoslavia. They believe that a fierce ethnic conflict could emerge if Nato continues with air strikes against Serbia. These feelings explain why the Macedonian government has treated the Albanian refugees with considerable contempt. In fact, the Albanian refugees merely want to return to their homes in Kosovo, and have no aspirations at all about forming a Greater Albania.
