It's Notting Hill, but not as I know it

Article Abstract:

Richard Fleischer's film '10 Rillington Place,' based on the book by Ludovic Kennedy, portrays the Notting Hill area of west London, England, in a realistic way, not attempting to disguise its negative aspects. In contrast, the film 'Notting Hill,' due to be released in summer 1999, is a romantic fantasy, and is therefore basically timeless and placeless. In this film, the idea of Notting Hill as a practical, unpretentious place is a key element in the plot, but the burden of this highly specific location invites the audience to question this portrayal.

Out of touch with the dull lives of most women

Article Abstract:

mBaroness Jay and Tessa Jowell, who are spearheading the UK government's efforts to support women, clearly have little real understanding of the significant challenges faced by the majority of ordinary women. They do not suffer financial hardship, and can, if they choose, pay others to undertake domestic tasks. They should not be criticized for the work they do, but they cannot claim to understand the problems of women in other circumstances.
