It's my land and I'll do what I want with it

Article Abstract:

Bitter disputes over planning permission have become increasingly common. People seeking to extend their home or build on land which they own often clash with their local authority, while neighbours can clash with each other if one of them is seeking planning permission. Many people are now spending a great deal of time and energy on disputes of this kind. In the US, this issue has developed into one of civil liberties, focusing on whether the rights of the individual landowner or of the wider community should be allowed to prevail.

Oooh, er, cripes

Article Abstract:

Lee Evans is currently one of the most popular comedians in the UK. He puts a great deal of physical effort into his shows, using his limbs in extremely unusual ways. He first performed at very downmarket working men's clubs, where he was often verbally abused by the audience. However, he has now become widely accepted, becoming particularly well known following his appearance in Peter Chelsom's film 'Funny Bones' in 1995.

'No Mum, you can't grow dope from a cutting.' (many people grow cannabis at home)

Article Abstract:

It is believed that growing cannabis at home has now become extremely common in the UK. Some people are unwilling to purchase cannabis on the black market, as they are afraid of being caught, while others enjoy the satisfaction of growing something themselves and being self-sufficient. It is illegal to grow cannabis, but it is not illegal to supply seeds in any way.
