Kosovo is part of Europe - that is why we must fight to save it

Article Abstract:

Nato military action in Serbia to bring about the downfall of President Slobodan Milosevic and to establish peace in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, will be a lengthy and violent process. It may be necessary for Nato to commit ground troops in order to secure peace in Kosovo, and this will make it particularly difficult for UK Prime Minister Tony Blair to convince ordinary people that military action is appropriate. However, it is clear that Europe cannot afford to ignore what is happening in Kosovo if peace is to be maintained.

Revealed: the winners and losers from an audit of the Balkan war

Article Abstract:

The conflict in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, has enhanced the reputation of UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, indicating that he is willing to adopt a strong moral stance and to remain true to this stance, despite inadequate support from the UK's European partners. Blair has shown that he does not always wish to please everybody, and has behaved with caution and dignity. In contrast, Conservative party leader William Hague has said nothing noteworthy at all about the Kosovo conflict.
