Lee Clegg is innocent, OK?

Article Abstract:

Irish nationalists believe that it was right that Private Lee Clegg, a paratrooper who shot an 18-year-old joyrider in west Belfast, was convicted of murder. They claim that someone should be made accountable for the murder, which was not justified by the offence. However, many senior military and political figures in the UK regard the life sentence as too harsh, as the soldier concerned was carrying out a difficult job in very dangerous conditions. The case has once again highlighted the gulf in perception between establishment figures in the UK and nationalists in Ireland.

What follows the triumph of Trimble?

Article Abstract:

Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble has often been portrayed as an obstacle to peace in Northern Ireland, but he has gained a much more positive image following moves by prime minister John Major to support his calls for an election to be at the centre of the peace process. He has a direct, rather than diplomatic, approach, and is said to have a very forceful manner. He clearly distrusts his political opponents, and often claims that nationalists act in bad faith.
