Article Abstract:

Mixed views are being expressed about whether voodoo religious services can really be performance art. Some observers believe that services such as the 'Vodou Nation' taken to the UK by Haitian voodoo priest Edgard Jean-Louis are perfectly acceptable as a spectacle. They feel that the service will be genuine, even if it is specially staged. Others have reservations, believing that the demands of performance could undermine authenticity.
