Colt Telecommunications has expanded rapidly and gained a very high profile since it was founded in Oct 1993, even though it has not yet made any profit. It is benefitting from the fact that its business, communications networks, is regarded as having significant growth potential. It has also become a pioneer in deregulating European telecommunications markets, demonstrating a successful business model. It has only 2,500 customers, but they all invest heavily.
