Mad, bad and too dangerous to release

Article Abstract:

The US film industry is in a state of considerable uncertainty as it faces lawsuits over alleged copycat homicides. Oliver Stone and Time Warner are the subject of legal action over 'Natural Born Killers,' which is alleged to have provided the model for a shooting in Louisiana in 1995. Similarly, the parents of a student shot at Heath High School in Kentucky are taking legal action against Time Warner, Polygram, Nintendo and Sega. Politicians are beginning to take very tough action against the film industry in response to events such as the massacre at Columbine High School in Apr 1999.

How to make a meal of the movies

Article Abstract:

The 'A Feast for the Eyes' season of food films at the National Film Theatre in London, England, highlights the fact that film directors are very attracted to the seductive visual aspects of what people like to eat. Indeed, directors often draw similarities between their role and that of a chef. Spanish directors like to show food as a metaphor, usually for sexuality, while Japanese and Taiwanese directors place great emphasis on the pleasures of eating.
