It is not possible to impose themes on pubs, according to Roger Myers, who founded Punch Taverns with Hugh Osmond. He rejects market research, believing that it is important to focus simply on what customers want. He feels that he has a good working relationship with Osmond, even though they do not present themselves as a team. Osmond admires the fact that Myers has been extremely creative in the UK pub and restaurant sector. He also admires the ability Myers shows to instinctively know whether a site is a good one.
