Milton Keynes is growing up. (English experimental town is 25 years old)

Article Abstract:

Milton Keynes, the new town, is 25 years old and despite still being criticised for its planning, it is a model of ambitious suburban design. Planned for the car, it still does not have traffic jams. Its low level buildings are easy on the eye and the city has a reputation for energy conservation. Built on a geometric grid on rural land in Buckinghamshire, the city attracted overspill population from London and other city dwellers looking for jobs. More recently its businesses have attracted a large Japanese community.
