Mirror to reality

Article Abstract:

Latest virtual reality technology was used in a project entitled 'The Mirror' which was set up by Illuminations, the production company responsible for the BBC2 television programme 'The Net,' BT, the BBC and Sony. This allowed the programme's viewers to come together to form a community based on common interests in a virtual environment. The virtual reality technology permitted users to select their own customisable 3D atavar and move around six fantastical virtual reality worlds. The project was particularly successful during time-specific events.

It's virtually the best way to run your business

Article Abstract:

Engineering and design concern Cambridge Advanced Electronics (CAE) became a virtual company in 1998. It shed its administrative staff, abandoned its offices and arranged for its consultants to work from home. It has already been possible to significantly reduce overheads and boost efficiency. CAE also feels that working conditions for its staff have improved, particularly in terms of allowing flexible working patterns and eliminating the need to commute.

Article Abstract:

The most common application for virtual reality technology is games, but it is now being recognised that virtual reality could also have many serious applications.
