Moscow wants its revenge, but not a full-scale war

Article Abstract:

There are number of arguments in favour of Russian intervention in the rebel republic of Chechnya. Ordinary Russians are less opposed to such action following bomb attacks in Moscow, Russia, which some observers attribute to Islamic insurgents from Chechnya. Furthermore, many ordinary people in Chechnya may welcome Russian intervention to protect them from local warlords. However, the Russian authorities are aware that prolonged intervention in Chechnya could prove very damaging.

I'm a serial bomber, published, you know

Article Abstract:

The Washington Post has recently attracted considerable controversy by publishing a lengthy treatise entitled 'Industrial Society and its Future.' This was written by a man who was given the FBI codename 'Unabom' in the late 1970s when he instigated a series of bomb attacks. He has never been traced, but has recently started to raise his public profile. He has promised to cease the bomb attacks if his views are printed.
