Murdoch talks Euro TV in Italy

Article Abstract:

Leading Italian private broadcaster, Mediaset, is in discussions with News Corp which may give the latter's chief, Rupert Murdoch, a competitive edge in the rapidly expanding European digital broadcasting sector. Mediaset chairman, Fedele Confalonieri, revealed on 2 September 1998 that discussions had taken place with Mr Murdoch but would not reveal specific details. It is rumoured that the agreement could result in a pan-European pay TV network being created. However, Mr Confalonieri revealed that Mr Murdoch examined the rescue plan for Leo Kirch's troubled media group, amid indications that Mediaset and News Corp will purchase 20% or so of Kirch Group.

Power and its glories

Article Abstract:

The Palazzina di Caccia at Stupinigi, on the outskirts of Turin, Italy, is staging an exhibition entitled 'The Triumph of the Baroque.' This exhibition is part of the centenary celebrations of Fiat. It follows to a certain extent the format of the exhibition on Renaissance architecture staged in 1994 in the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Italy. There are many contemporary models of the architectural aspect of the Baroque. One of the most interesting is a model for a palace at Richmond, England, designed by William Kent in 1735.
