Navy searches for stranded villagers

Article Abstract:

Royal Marines from 45 Commando will seek to establish contact with people cut off in flooded villages along the border of Honduras and Nicaragua. It is believed that up to 900 villagers may have been forced to seek shelter on the roofs of their houses as a result of the flooding caused by Hurricane Mitch. They have now spent 10 days without food or water. The marines will use fast dinghies as they seek to reach areas identified by a Royal Navy Lynx helicopter on a video reconnaissance mission.
