New regulations for accountants

Article Abstract:

UK accountants are to have their protection against large legal claims improved by the introduction of new regulations. Accountants, lawyers, surveyors and other professions are to be allowed to form limited liability partnerships under Government plans that were unveiled on 17 September 1998. The plans are expected to be introduced in 1999 and will provide an independent form of regulation for the accountancy profession which is often criticised for not dealing swiftly with members who fail to meet the minimum standards required.
