Nice Jewish boy who beat me up

Article Abstract:

A Jewish woman tells of the failure of an entire Jewish community to accept that she was being subjected to systematic violence and abuse. She was brought up to believe that the wife plays a key role in maintaining the stability of the family, and met a man with whom she felt she could create a happy home. She tried to block out the fact that she was being beaten by him, and was not believed even when she did try to tell others about the problem. There was nowhere within the Jewish community where she could get help.

You don't have to be Jewish

Article Abstract:

There are many examples of top classical musicians straying into other musical forms, such as jazz. In most cases, such ventures are not of a very high musical standard. However, this is not the case with classical violinist Itzhak Perlman, who has recently made a recording of Jewish klezmer music. This music, which initially came from Ashkenazi Jewish communities, is now enjoying a revival in the US. Being Jewish does not necessarily give a person an ability to play this music, but Perlman performs very well.

Dr Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi, is orgainsing a charity walk on Jul 12 1992 but banned volunteers from the Jewish Lesbian and Gay Helpline, the first in Europe, set up in 1988 from taking part.
