No more back to the future

Article Abstract:

The three year collaborative Charge Parity experiment in the Low Energy Antiproton Ring project has shown for the first time that, at least in this universe, time only moves forwards. It was established that K Mesons (kaons), electrically neutral particles, turn into antikaons less frequently than antikaons turn into kaons. This indicates that, with time, antimatter is more likely to turn into matter. Scientists now plan to repeat the research using more massive subatomic particles.

Captured in space: the deadly course of El Nino

Article Abstract:

The El Nino weather pattern which has developed in 1997 to 1998 has been much more severe than previous ones. It has led to drought in China, Indonesia and Australia, caused heavy rains in east Africa and Canada and altered jet streams over North and South America. There are mixed views among experts about whether the severity of the current El Nino can be attributed to global warming. Similarly, it is uncertain whether global warming will lead to more El Nino events.
