Article Abstract:

UK supermarkets now offer a wide range of promotions, and this can cause confusion among shoppers. It is common for shoppers to suffer from information overload, with prices advertised on shelves not matching those charged at the till, for example. In many cases, shoppers fail to take advantage of promotions which allow them to take an extra item at no charge, and these promotions are often advertised in a misleading way. It is often the case that promotions do not really save the shopper any money at all.

Vitamins and diet supplements have become popular in the United Kingdom, and the sector looks likely to grow further. There is a debate as to whether they are necessary, with opponents emphasising the harm that can come from overdoses, and arguing that a balanced diet provides all the vitamins we need. The market is worth some 345 million pounds sterling, with dietary supplements like ginseng and garlic accounting for 62% of sales, and tonics and vitamins for 38%.
