Only sweat-shops for labouring classes

Article Abstract:

Traditional industries such as coal mining no longer offer employment in the area around Ebbw Vale, Wales. Many local people struggle to survive financially, and those living on the poorest estates face many challenges, including lack of local facilities such as shops. There are high unemployment levels among older men who worked in traditional industries, while young people can only find jobs that pay extremely low wages. The traditional sense of community spirit is also being eroded.
