Parents fight on after doctor is cleared of killing baby boy

Article Abstract:

Eugene Turner, the leading paediatrician in Port Angeles, WA, has been cleared of the murder of three-day-old Conor McInnerney. The charges against him were dropped even before a jury had been empanelled. This has been warmly welcomed by most of the city's residents, who have great respect for Turner. However, the baby's parents have stated that they will bring a wrongful death lawsuit against Turner. It is alleged that he smothered the baby after having struggled for a long time to revive him.

Woodward faces the hardest choice of all

Article Abstract:

British nanny Louise Woodward, who has been found guilty in the US of the murder of a baby in her charge, must face difficult decisions as her defence team considers its next move. Judge Hiller Zobel will shortly be requested to consider overturning the guilty verdict and declare an acquital, reducing the charge to manslaughter or ordering a retrial. If the charge is reduced to manslaughter, then Woodward will have to confess her guilt to the court.

Young, privileged and facing death row

Article Abstract:

Amy Grossberg and Brian Peterson, who are both 18 years old and benefited from a privileged, middle-class upbringing in New Jersey suburbia, are now accused of the premeditated murder of their baby son. It is claimed that, having told nobody about the pregnancy, they murdered the baby after delivering it alone in a Newark hotel room. They state that the baby was alive when they dumped it in a rubbish skip behind the hotel.
