Poaching is on the increase

Article Abstract:

Poaching of bears in North America is becoming increasingly serious and is linked to demand for bear parts in Asia. Bear gall bladders are believed to have medicinal properties, and they can easily be hidden. There is a danger that US bears could become extinct as has occurred with many bear species in Asia. The US and Canada are strenghening their laws in order to tackle the problem, but there is also a need to ban the bear parts trade in consuming nations.
