Police chief says legalise brothels

Article Abstract:

The West Yorkshire, UK, Chief Constable, Keith Hellawell, believes that brothels should become legal, and that present legislation is ridiculous. The suggestion, which increasingly has the backing of other police officers, was criticised by Sir Ivan lawrence, the Conservative chairman of the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, who believes that more women would turn to prostitution and moral standards would fall further. According to Hellawell, the legalisation of brothels would mean health checks, the removal of prostitutes from the streets, and taxation of prostitutes' income.

Listen to me

Article Abstract:

The recommendation by Conservative Members of Parliament on the Home Affairs Select Committee that handguns should not be banned, because it is not practical, has caused outrage, particularly among families involved in the massacre in Dunblane, Scotland, although those who use guns are pleased at the decision. Michael Howard, UK Home Secretary, is expected to disregard the recommendation and introduce legislation to stop handguns being privately owned.
