Portrait of a paradise regained

Article Abstract:

An exhibition of the works of Thomas Robins the Elder and Thomas Robins the Younger is to be held at Painswick House, Gloucestershire, England, between Sep 19, 1998, and Sep 27, 1998. Thomas Robins the Elder was commissioned in 1748 to paint the rococo pleasure garden created at Painswick House by Benjamin Hyett. The garden eventually fell into disrepair, but Robins' work has been used as the basis for extensive restoration work. The exhibition will include several sketchbooks, along with larger paintings.

There's more to the National Trust than country piles, says the new head man. There's 20 Forthin Road, for a start

Article Abstract:

The National Trust faces many challenges as it embarks upon its second century, according to new director general Martin Drury. There are already indications of a new approach within the organisation, including the purchase of the council house in Liverpool, England, where Paul McCartney lived as a teenager. He believes that it is important to be forward-looking, especially as the National Trust is generally preoccupied with the past.

Doubts? Psychosis? Get a diary

Article Abstract:

Keeping a diary can be very helpful in coping with life, according to research undertaken in the US. A diary does not necessarily have to be in written form, as tape recordings, computer-based diaries or video diaries can also bring the same benefits. Reading the diaries of other people can also assist in a person's subconscious search for a pattern in life.
