Professor Boris Ford

Article Abstract:

Educationist and writer Boris Ford studied at Downing College, Cambridge, England, where he came to share many of the ideas of F.R. Leavis. He became fascinated with the interaction of culture and society, and this fascination was to be the driving force behind some of his best writing and teaching. He was strongly committed to music, and this commitment was to find its expression in institutional terms after he served as Professor of Education and Director of the Institute of Education at Sheffield, England, between 1960 and 1963.
