There are a number of key issues to take into consideration when assessing whether you have the best mortgage deal for your particular circumstances. It is important to check whether finance can be raised at a later stage by adding to the mortgage, rather than taking out a separate loan, and attention should be given to what may happen if you encounter financial difficulties. The borrower must also look at the annualized percentage rate and at whether the lender subscribes to the voluntary code of practice operated by the Council of Mortgage Lenders and the Mortgage Code Register of Intermediaries.

Offshore banking begins to grow

Article Abstract:

Dominica is looking to establish a thriving offshore banking sector. Its offshore business sector generated almost $3 million in revenue in the fiscal year 1997 to 1998, and it is hoped that creating a regulatory and institutional framework will allow the sector to expand further. The island's International Business Unit is also looking for further growth, and is considering offering services including a free zone, a foreign sales corporation and international ship and aircraft registration.
