Rail chiefs may face criminal charges

Article Abstract:

Initial inquiries into the train crash near Paddington station, London, England, in which at least 40 people are known to have died, indicate that the accident would not have happened if a train protection warning system had been in operation. It is possible that rail industry directors will face manslaughter charges over this accident if evidence is found of 'gross negligence.' Railtrack will not be permitted to bring back into use the signal at the centre of the crash until steps have been taken to improve its operation.

Passengers feared crash would be a new 'Titanic'

Article Abstract:

A collision in the English Channel has involved a cargo vessel and a cruise liner, 'The Norwegian Dream', with 2,400 passengers and the crew escaping with no harm. An inquiry will be held into how the disaster occurred at at time when the weather was good. The cargo ship, the 'Ever Decent' was blamed by some travelers from the liner, who had seen the cargo ship approach from behind. The passengers of the liner had mainly come from the US, and were traveling round Europe on a cultural trip.
