Read all about it ... architect finishes Great British Disaster

Article Abstract:

The controversy over the design and construction of the British Library, which is to open in London, England, at the end of Nov 1997, has proved very damaging to the reputation of architect Colin St John Wilson. He no longer gains any commissions, and he has had to dissolve his practice. He found opposition to his design for the British Library very demoralizing, but was determined to see the project through to completion. He does not regret his decision to work on the scheme, even though it came to dominate his life.

The changing face of the British teenager

Article Abstract:

Today's teenagers are not really rebellious at all, according to the first Young People's Social Attitudes survey. They lack interest in anything outside what is required to obtain employment, and therefore focus heavily on education. They are inclined to take advice from their parents, unlike teenagers of earlier generations, and often agree with their parents. They generally support existing legislation on issues such as alcohol and voting.
