School governors vs the Government

Article Abstract:

School governors are becoming increasingly critical of the government's education policy as they make use of their powers to oversee school reforms. They are now considering setting deficit budgets in order to keep class sizes under control and avoid making teachers redundant, and in one case the county council has been forced to take over the finances of a primary school where the governors have resigned over budget cuts. Protests are also coming from parents, and efforts are being made to establish a national grouping of parents, teachers and governors.
