US markets reopen amid fears of share collapse

The New York Stock Exchange is reopening following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. A safety system has been created by the Federal Reserve, Wall Street investment houses and regulators to try to prevent a sharp drop in share prices when trading resumes.

Shares slide as world nervously awaits Wall Street reopening

Wall Street is set to reopen on Sep 17, 2001, following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. It is widely believed that Wall Street will reopen at least 400 points, or 5% lower, with some equity strategists predicting a fall of as much as 10%.
