'Stealing has more dignity.' Discuss

Article Abstract:

The city of Edinburgh, Scotland, has a large number of homeless people, many of whom are dependent on alcohol or drugs. Some survive by begging, sometimes aggressively, while others turn to rehabilitation projects such as the Bethany Christian Trust. Here, recovering alcoholics and drug addicts are made to look closely at their addictive behaviour. The centre has a failure rate of 84%, but this is considerably better than the national average of 90%. A number of former clients now work at the centre and are in a strong position to help others.
